The Parc Naturel Régional du Médoc, in Gironde, is very active in the development of tourism and wine tourism… With 16500 hectares of vineyards, you can’t stay in the Médoc without visiting wineries and tasting great Bordeaux wines.
From vineyard to vineyard, estate to estate, the Gironde’s wine and architectural heritage awaits you!
The Médoc vineyards comprise 8 appellations: Médoc, Margaux, Haut-Médoc, Saint-Julien, Moulis-en-Médoc, Saint-Estèphe and its five grands crus classés, Pauillac with its prestigious grands crus, Château Latour, Mouton-Rothschild and Lafite-Rothschild, and Listrac-Médoc.
To discover these great names in French wine and the estates that produce them, it’s possible to follow a wine tour during your vacation, called “the Bordeaux Médoc wine route “. There’s nothing like a stroll through the Parc Naturel Régional, amidst the Médoc vineyards and prestigious châteaux!
Just 40 minutes from the La Côte d’Argent campsite, start your wine tour with Margaux and its famous growth, Château Margaux. Just 10 km further on, discover the village of Lamarque, home to several appellations and Molière’s famous Pont Imaginaire.
Next, join the “lock of the estuary”, made up of three defensive monuments built by Vauban and listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Fort Médoc, set amidst the Saint-Julien vineyards.
Along the way, you’ll pass through Pauillac, with its hundreds of wineries. You’ll marvel at two gems of Romanesque architecture: Château Cordeillan-Bages and the Abbatiale de Vertheuil. Nearby is Château Maucaillou, where you can visit the Musée des Arts et Métiers de la Vigne et du Vin.
