The city’s various hubs
Located just twenty minutes from La Côte d’Argent campsite, Carcans, a village of 2,500 inhabitants, is divided into three zones:
- Carcans-plage: ideal for surfing and swimming, you can enjoy the beautiful sandy beaches, small shops and cycle along the coastal paths.
- Carcans-Maubuisson: a neighborhood bordered by both the ocean and Lac d’Hourtin. It’s the perfect place to enjoy the summer season. Here you’ll find a vibrant nightlife with restaurants and bars, two supervised beaches and a wide choice of water sports.
- Carcans center: administrative center of the commune.

Cultural visits
Visit the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions and travel back in time to discover the history of the Médoc from the 18th to the 20th century. In the evening, enjoy a show and tapas at Carcans’ café-théâtre. In the town center, enter the church of Saint-Martin, a must for pilgrims on the Compostelle pilgrimage route, and home to a statue of Santiago de Compostela.
