No fewer than 18 grands crus flourish in the region: Latour, Mouton-Rothschild and La Rose de Pauillac, France’s oldest wine cellar, to name but a few. The benefits of the sun on the vineyards also delight holidaymakers. Pauillac can also be visited by the whole family: the Marina, the Grotte d’Artigues and the covered market housed in an old presbytery are all places of interest. The flora and fauna are perfectly preserved, as is the case with the Parc naturel marin de l’estuaire de la Gironde et de la mer des Pertuis. To make the most of the village, stay at Camping La Côte d’Argent in Hourtin-Plage. This 5-star campsite is just 30 minutes from Pauillac.
Gironde is the tourist region par excellence. Its mild climate and numerous activities make the region the ideal destination for all holidaymakers: families, couples or friends. All around Pauillac, towns and villages have their own specialities.
In Saint-Laurent-Médoc, visit the 500 hectares of vineyards and discover the local architecture with the Saint-Laurent and Notre-Dame-de-Benon churches. In Saint Estèphe, a stroll through the vineyards before a tasting is a must.
Cissac-Médoc is a plunge into history with its many châteaux: Château Cissac, Château du Breuil, Château Lamothe-Cissac and Château Fontesteau. A former military complex built into the hillside, the Citadelle de Blaye offers an exceptional panorama of the Gironde estuary.
Bordeaux, la Belle Endormie, is only 50 kilometers away: be sure to stop off and stroll through the picturesque streets of the old town. Beaches, forests, lakes, vineyards, heritage… the area around Pauillac is full of tempting possibilities.
Camping de la Côte d’Argent attracts families to a relaxing setting for visiting Pauillac and the surrounding area. Ideally located just 300 meters from the Atlantic coast and a few kilometers from the immense Lac d’Hourtin, the campsite is an ideal spot for swimming and water sports. Children will love the 5,000 m² water park with its heated pool, slides and aqua’pirates area. The little ones can learn to swim in the paddling pool. The cottages and mobile homes sleep from 2 to 8 people and all have private terraces, ideal for aperitifs with friends or family dinners. Camping pitches are also available for those who prefer a more natural vacation, right in the heart of the pine forest. Sports enthusiasts will also find plenty to do at the Côte d’Argent campsite in Hourtin: cycle path, tennis court, fitness room, pétanque court… there’s something for everyone.
When you visit Pauillac, you’ll know where the wine on your table comes from. With its 18 grands crus, the village is a hub of France’s wine heritage. Vineyards and châteaux are the region’s main tourist attractions. But that’s not all: this beautiful region of the South-West of France has something for everyone, from sports enthusiasts to idlers.
